VAR Work Flow
Go Up to InterBase VAR License Portal
- A new InterBase VAR, once identified, has their agreement established and approved.
- A credit check is completed and their account is added to the system at the point of the first royalty invoice or when their pre-payment is made.
- Credit Checks frequently happens as the agreement is being signed, and the results are therefore not available to EMBT Finance and other ACTORS in advance of the final documentation.
- If there is a pre-payment (typically $10,000 but can be from zero upwards depending on the EMBT SALES MANAGER agreement) the agreed pre-payment is made to Embarcadero as a deposit for future licenses and to confirm a preferential price.
- To retrieve licenses, an InterBase VAR is typically treated in one of two ways.
- License Key Distribution via CHANNEL PARTNER or RESELLER
- OR
- OEM / ISV – Provided with a (e)slip file for silent Install, which requires approval from the CFO or Financial Director (International).
In International
- Non Partner VAR’s: This report is then used to generate a quote for the sales. The customer provides their purchase order number for this report, which then follows the quote to invoice process.
- Partners VAR’s: EMBT SALES received a purchase order and report, which is then passed to EMBT FINANCE (or as current process).
In Americas
- An invoice is raised for payment based on the report.
- Reporting is done on a trust basis.
- Reporting is currently done via a spreadsheet being returned with the details of the VAR’s installations, license keys used and dates of installation.
- This data is then printed and stored with the invoices.
- Americas also have a summary spreadsheet showing total pre-payment on a VAR’s account, less the amount already used. (See Appendix B)
- Currently, International is developing an internal process to replicate that of the Americas.
