File > Export Project to XMI

Use this dialog box to export a UML model designed in a Modeling project into an XMI (XML Metadata Interchange) format description stored in a file.

To open the XMI Export dialog box

• In the Model View, select a project root node and choose File > Export Project to XMI on the main menu.
• In the Model View, right-click a project root node and choose Export Project to XMI on the context menu.

Control	Description
Select XMI type	Choose the required XMI type from the list of supported types. Some of the elements supported by Modeling are not allowed in IBM Rational Rose. The XMI for UML 1.3 (Unisys Extension recommended for Rose) option drops all Rose-inconsistent elements. If such elements are encountered, appropriate messages appear in the Messages tab.
XMI encoding	Click the drop-down arrow to choose the required encoding for the output stream.
Select the Export Destination	Specify the fully qualified name of the output file. Use the Browse button to browse for the output file location.
Export	Accepts the input and exports the UML model designed in the selected modeling project into the XMI format data in the specified output file.
