Navigating the Datasource Explorer and Displaying Nodes or Objects
Go Up to Using the Datasource Explorer/Navigator
The Datasource Explorer features a hierarchical tree. All higher level nodes have an Expand/Collapse control that lets you drill down the hierarchy or hide hierarchy levels accordingly.
For a description of higher level nodes and the functionality provided for those nodes, see Understanding the Explorer Tree Hierarchy.
When you select an object on the left-hand pane of the Datasource Explorer, you can view corresponding data in the right pane. This varies by node type:
- When a group is selected in the left-hand pane, the right-hand pane displays datasources and sub-groups contained in that group
- When a datasource is selected in the left-hand pane, the right-hand pane displays a set of configuration or operational parameters for the datasource, if available.
- When a node is selected in the left-hand pane, the right-hand pane display depends on the hierarchy level of the selected node. At the lowest level, when a node corresponding to an object type is selected, the right-hand pane displays all objects of that type as well as key properties of the object. Right-hand pane display for a higher level node, corresponding to a grouping of object types, may be a simple list of the available object types in that category.
