Reference Objects Palette

The Reference Object Palette displays the four main reference objects as well as the Link and Usage connectors. Domains are not visualized on diagrams so the Domain element icon is not available on the Reference Object’s palette.

Application
Business Element	Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination	A singular element of the business that can be bound to different business attributes across conceptual models. A Business Element can be used to seed business attributes in a business entity.
Business Rule	Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination	A business rule is a policy, practice, or formula related to the operation and enforcement of business practices.
Business Unit	Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination	A business unit is an organizational area within or external to an enterprise.
Link	Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination	This link displays high-level views of information requirements. This type is used to simply relate objects together. The link you create is labeled “conceptual”.
Stewards	Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination	A steward is a person or organization responsible to, or associated with a model element.
Usage	Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination	When you select this option you create a link that enables you to designate a usage type: create, read, update, or delete database records. The connection you create is labeled “usage”
