Using Zoom in Diagrams

You can change the scale of any diagram displayed in a Diagram View. The application offers several zooming features which are described in the following table:

Custom zoom into and out of any Diagram window by specifying a zoom percentage on the Formatting toolbar. When you use the custom zoom feature, you type a specific zoom percentage, or select a preset percentage from the custom zoom drop-down list. The higher the specified percentage value, the closer the zoom. | |
Incrementally zoom into and out of any Diagram window, enlarging or reducing the size of your diagram gradually with the click of a button. | |
Reduces the size of all elements in the Diagram View so that the entire diagram fits on one page. |
- Tip: ER/Studio BA also offers an Overview Window, where you can zoom into and out of specific parts of any Diagram window from a single, unscalable window.
Preset Percentages
To enlarge or reduce a diagram using a preset percentage, do the following:
- 1 On the View menu, click Zoom Level.
- 2 From the pull-right menu, select the percentage amount that you want to enlarge or reduce your diagram. The available percentages are: 25, 50, 75, 100, 200, and 400.
Custom Zooming
You can gain access to the Custom Zoom feature three different ways:
- On the View menu, click Zoom Level > Custom to open the Zoom Level dialog.
- OR
- On the Standard toolbar, click the Custom Zoom box (
). In the Custom Zoom box, do one of the following:
- Type a zoom percentage value.
- On the Standard toolbar, click the Custom Zoom box (
- OR
- Select a preset zoom value from the list to display the diagram at the specified zoom percentage.
- Tip: The custom zoom drop-down list also offers the option to Fit to Page.
Zooming In and Out
To zoom in (enlarge the diagram), do one of the following:
To zoom out (reduce the diagram), do one of the following:
- OR
- In the Diagram View window, right-click, and then click Zoom Out to redraw the diagram according to the zoom size specified.
Fit to Page
Fit to Page reduces or enlarges the diagram so all elements appear in the visible view area of the diagram.
