This palette appears in the Diagram Area when you open or create a Conceptual Model diagram. It is not available if a Business Process Model is open. If a element has additional options available, a drop-down menu appears to the right of the icon and element name in the palette. For example, if you click the Relationship element, additional relationship types are available.

Artifact Palette Icon Description

Subject Area

Describes the broad term of the business. It can be used by itself as a model object and/or as a grouping mechanism containing business entities.

Business Entities

“Thing” of the business/organization containing other business entities or elements, for example, inventory.

Business Attributes

A property of a business entity, for example, an employee identification number. You can copy and paste an attribute from one Business Entity to another within the same workspace.

Interaction

Relationship between two elements representing an action or process or transaction. Interactions can be created between different types.

Group

A graphical object to visually show that items are grouped together.

Relationship between two elements representing a loose couple. Relationships can only be created between conceptual modeling elements of the same type. A warning dialog opens if you try to create a relationship between different types.

Many-to-Many

Denotes that many components are related to many components.

Many-to-One

Denotes that many components are related to one component.

One-to-Many

Denotes that one component is related to many components.
