Format Diagram Elements

You can format an individual element or a group of elements using the Formatting toolbar.

Note: You can also set global formatting preferences for both the Business Process Modeling and Conceptual elements by selecting Windows > Preferences. For more information, see Formatting.

Font and Color Options

You can change the font style, font size, font colors, and the fill and line colors of a selected element in the Colors and Fonts portion of the Formatting dialog.

To change a selected font, select a font from the drop-down menu in the Font text box. You can also change the font size by selecting a size from the drop-down menu in the size text box. You can edit the font settings of all element labels. The following toolbar commands are available:

Bold

Applies bold formatting to the label text.

Italics

Italicizes the label text.

Strikeout

A line is drawn through the label text.

Underline

ICON DOCUMENT UNDERLINE1.PNG

Underlines the label text.

You can also change the font color, element outline color, and element fill color with the following commands

Change Font Color

Click the drop-down arrow to select an existing color or click “Other” to open the Color dialog where you can create a custom color for the color of the label font.

Change Line Color

Click the drop-down arrow to select an existing color or click “Other” to open the Color dialog where you can create a custom color for the border of the element.

Change Fill Color

Click the drop-down arrow to select an existing color or click “Other” to open the Color dialog where you can create a custom color for the background of the element.

Justification

You can change the justification settings for the text label in an element.

Note: These commands do not justify the text labels on elements that use text boxes outside the element.
Command Icon Description

Left Justify Text

Justifies the text on the left side of the text box.

Center Text

ICON CENTER TEXT1.PNG

Centers the text in the text box.

Right Justify Text

ICON RIGHT JUSTIFY TEXT1.PNG

Justifies the text on the right side of the text box.

Font Size

You can incrementally increase or decrease the text size of a selected element in the diagram.

Increase Font Size

ICON INCREASE FONT SIZE.PNG

Each time you click this icon, the font of the selected label increases by one point size.

Decrease Font Size

ICON DECREASE FONT SIZE.PNG

Each time you click this icon, the font of the selected label decreases by one point size.
