Go Up to Session 3: Creating a Business Process Model Diagram (Evaluation Guide)

When you double-click on an element, either in the Model View Tree or in the Diagram View, the Property View for that element opens. You can use the Property View to:

  • Change the name or properties of an element.
  • Enter a description of the element, if applicable.
  • Change or add a trigger/result (if it is an event).
  • View any links that have been created to the element.
  • View the Impact Analysis report.
  • View the Usage (CRUD) report.
  • Change the appearance and color of the font or the object itself.

We are going to change the End Event we just placed in the diagram to a Message End Event.

1 Double-click the End Event object in the Diagram View to open the Property View.

3 To place a second Message End Event in the diagram, click the drop-down arrow to the right of the End Event icon in the Business Process Objects palette.
4 Select Message End Event from the list and place it to the right of the “Handle Fault” task in the diagram.

We are going to place an intermediate event on a task showing that if an error occurs, how the diagram would handle it.

1 On the Business Process palette, click the drop-down arrow on the Intermediate Event icon (ICON INTERMEDIATE EVENT.PNG) and select the Error Intermediate Event (ICON INTERMEDIATE ERROR.PNG) from the list.
2 Place the event on the lower edge of the task labeled “Check Order”. The icon is now docked to the task.
