Installing and Licensing ToGo and Appmethod

From InterBase

Appmethod provides full support for InterBase XE3 databases and is installed with Appmethod. To download a trial version of Appmethod, go to: http://www.embarcadero.com/products and click Trial Download. InterBase XE3 is installed the following directory:

<path>\Program Files (x86)\Embarcadero\Studio\14.0\InterBaseXE3

Requirements

If you want to use InterBase XE3 databases, you need to have:

  • The latest client version of InterBase
When you install Appmethod, the correct client version of InterBase XE3 is automatically installed, unless you specifically deselect InterBase XE3.
  • An x64 machine for the new platform support (if you want to use 64-bit)

The 64-bit edition can be installed only on the following operating systems:

  • Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)
  • Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
  • Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit)

Integrated Licensing for InterBase XE3

InterBase XE3 Developer Edition is installed with Appmethod and included in Appmethod integrated license. InterBase XE3 ToGo does not have to be installed on any server or end-user workstation and it has two licensing options for deployment: ToGo and IBLite. This feature makes it easier for developers to create Appmethod C++ and Object Pascal InterBase applications using Appmethod.

ToGo Test Deployment License

The ToGo Test Deployment license allow users to test InterBase applications on deployment machines or to deploy their mobile applications to iOS or Android devices. For example, a user who is developing a Windows 32-bit InterBase application can use a ToGo Test Deployment license to test the application on other machines running 32-bit or 64-bit windows, or Mac OS X. ToGo provides a relational database across iOS, Android, Windows (32-bit and 64-bit), and Mac OS X. Appmethod Trial edition (install or app versions) includes a 30-day trial of the ToGo license file. You can find the license file in the <path>\Embarcadero\InterBase\redist\InterBaseXE3 directory.

If you have a retail license, follow the steps below to get the ToGo license file:

  1. Go to the Product Registration Portal.
  2. Enter the Serial Number and Registration Code received in the license certificate information.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter the EDN account information.
Note: If you do not have an EDN account, you can create one here: {https://members.embarcadero.com/login.aspx | Developer Network account].
  1. Click Next.
  1. Click Register to download or email the activation file.
  1. Save the file on your machine.
  1. Rename the file as reg_ibtogo.txt and copy it to the following directory:
<path>\Embarcadero\InterBase\redist\InterBaseXE3.

To run your application on your device or on Mac, you need to deploy the InterBase ToGo license files:

  1. Open your Appmethod application.
  2. Open the Deployment Manager by selecting Project > Deployment.
  3. Select Add Featured Files ():
  1. Select the InterBase ToGo item.
  1. For mobile applications, expand iOSDevice and Android sub-items.
  • Uncheck the reg_iblite.txt item and make sure the reg_ibtogo.txt license file is selected
  1. Click OK to close the Featured Files dialog box.

The ToGo Test Deployment license is available for development and testing only. If you want to deploy your ToGo applications to AppStores or to your customers, you need to setup a VAR agreement.
