the documentation does not say when and why Load Icon button is disabled. I read that some people use Delphi 5 to insert icons in newer Delphis.

Response

Here is the response from R&D for the IDE:

Setting the application icon is disabled for console applications, and has been for as long as I can remember. Some people call this a bug, but Windows defaults to a standard console-mode icon by design.
If a user really wants to change the icon for a console app, they have to do some work. A good tutorial is found here: http://delphi.about.com/od/delphitips2009/qt/console-mode-delphi-application-specify-icon.htm

I have added this information to the topic "Application."

Many thanks for your precious time. My problem is that the app is no console application (it has normal GUI, no {$APPTYPE CONSOLE}, etc.). I remotely recall that the icon was changeable in older versions of Delphi in the same app. Thank you.

Response

Sorry for no response until now!

The Load Icon button should be enabled (on the Application page of Project Options) for everything except console apps. However, Load Icon will only load .ico files.

Let me know if you are still having problems.

Installation folder

The page says "Style files are installed by default at C:\Users\Public\Documents\RAD Studio\Styles\Embarcadero." I'm assuming that this is for Windows 7 and/or Vista; it's not where they are installed on XP, which (on mine) are at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\RAD Studio\9.0\Styles. Philip J. Response

We've added the location on XP, per your info.

Many thanks for your comment on the docwiki!
