Large real-world models do not fit within the Diagram View. To scroll the view of such diagrams, you can use the Overview pane.

To scroll the diagram using the Overview pane

  1. In the Diagram View, open a diagram. Click the Overview button in the lower-right corner of the Diagram View. The Overview pane opens and shows a thumbnail image of the current diagram.
The highlighted rectangle within the Overview pane contains that portion of the model that is currently displayed on the diagram.
  1. Resize the Overview pane by clicking the upper-left corner of the pane and dragging it.
  2. Drag the floating highlighted rectangle within the Overview pane to dynamically scroll to the portion of the diagram you want to view.
  3. Close the Overview pane by clicking the diagram anywhere outside of the Overview pane.

Tip: The Overview pane has a sizing grip in the upper-left corner. Drag the sizing grip to resize the Overview pane. As you resize the pane, its contents are scaled to best fit the new pane size. Resizing is useful when the model is large enough that you cannot read the text on the miniature representation in the Overview pane.
