Go Up to Available object actions by DBMS

The control file contains information about the associated database that is required for the database to be accessed by an instance, both at startup and during normal operation.

Note: Only the Oracle database server can modify a control file's information; no user can edit a database's control file directly.

The Control File Information dialog lets you view statistics (Type, Record Size, Records Total, Records Used, First Index, Last Index, and Last Recid) on the following control file entries:

Platform Availability

To View the Control File for a Database

  1. On the Navigator, under Storage expand the Control Files node.
    DBArtisan displays the Control Files.
  2. In the right pane of the application, right-click a control file, and then select Open.
    DBArtisan opens the Control File Information dialog.
