Creating a Data Asset

Go Up to Working with Data Sources

To create a data asset:

1. On the Data Catalog tab, select a Data Source.
2. Click the New Data Asset button on the upper-right corner.
3. On the New Data Asset dialog box that opens:
   1. Enter a Name for your new data asset. Names of data assets in Team Server must be unique.
   2. Write a Definition that provides detailed information about the data asset, such as its purpose and audience. You can also optionally enter a Catalog (name of the database) and Owner (only applies if it's RDBMS) as per your convenience.
   3. Click Save to save your new data asset.

Note: Adding data assets in Team Server makes them available into ER/Studio Data Architect for the purposes of connecting or mapping.
