Installation Notes

This page contains important information regarding the installation of HTML5 Builder. Read it before you proceed to install it in your system.

Requirements

Development

Hardware Requirements

• Intel® Pentium® III/M 1.4 GHz, or Pentium IV 1.4 GHz minimum.
• 512 MB RAM (1 GB for Microsoft® Windows Vista™, Microsoft® Windows 7 or Microsoft® Windows 8 Release Preview).
• 300 MB free hard disk space.
• SVGA or higher-resolution monitor (XGA is recommended).
• Mouse or other pointing device.

Note: The latest service packs and security updates are recommended for all platforms.

Supported Database Management Systems

HTML5 Builder supports the following DBMS:

• DB2 UDB 9.5, 9.1, 8.x*, 7.x*. Driver: dbxDB2.dll. Client: db2cli.dll. PECL extension required.
• Firebird 2.5, 2.1, 1.5. Driver: dbxfb.dll. Client: fbclient.dll.
• Informix 9.x. Driver: dbxINF.dll. Client: isqlb09a.dll. PECL extension required.
• InterBase XE3, XE, 2009, 2007, 7.5.1, 7.1*, 8.0*, 6.5*. Driver: dbxINT.dll. Client: GDS32.DLL.
• Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2005, 2000. Driver: dbxMSS.dll. Client: sqlncli10.dll.
• MySQL 5.1, 5.0.27, 4.1*. Driver: dbxMYS.dll. Client: libmysql.dll.
• Oracle 11g, 10g, 9.2.0*, 9.1.0*. Driver: dbxora.dll. Client: OCI.DLL.
• PostgreSQL.

* The driver is not fully certified with this version of the DBMS.

In addition, the following DBMS are supported, but cannot be used with the Data Explorer: MySQL (versions newer than 5.1 or older than 4.1), NexusDB, SQLite 3.

End User

Supported Browsers

HTML5 Builder web applications require an HTML5-capable browser:

• Internet Explorer 9+.
• Firefox 3.5+.
• Chrome 5+.
• Safari 5+.
• Opera 10.6+.

HTML5 support might differ from a browser to another, and between different versions of the same browser. For detailed support information, see Browser Support.

Supported Mobile Operating Systems

HTML5 Builder supports deploying mobile applications for:

• iOS 4.2.1+*
• Android 2+
• BlackBerry 10*
• Windows Phone 8*

* HTML5 Builder generates a PhoneGap project folder. Follow the deployment documentation for the target platform that you can build into an application package .

When building applications locally, you will need additional software for the supported platforms: iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone.

Installation

Notes:

• If you are upgrading, read the upgrade instructions first.
• To install HTML5 Builder on Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8, you must run as Administrator or be on the Administrator list.

If you got HTML5 Builder through Electronic Software Delivery, extract the contents of the .zip folder. If you got a Media Kit instead, explore your HTML5 Builder CD.

Then run HTML5 Builder.exe, select your language of choice for the installation wizard, click OK and follow the steps below:

1. On the first page, click Next to start configuring the installation.
2. On the License Agreement page:
   1. Check I accept the agreement if you do. Else, click Cancel to abort the installation.
   2. Click Next.
3. On the Select Destination Location page:
   1. Optionally change installation path:
      1. Click Browse….
      2. Go to the desired path, and click OK.
   2. Click Next.
4. On the Select Components page, select the components you want to install, and click Next.
5. On the Select Start Menu Folder page:
   1. Optionally change Start Menu folder name:
      1. Click Browse….
      2. Go to the desired path, and click OK.
   2. Click Next.
6. On the Select Additional Tasks page:
   1. Leave Automatically installs Steema’s Teechart HTML5 marked to install this third-party component package right after HTML5 Builder’s installation (see Steema’s Teechart HTML5 below).
   2. Check Create a desktop icon to add a HTML5 Builder launcher to your desktop.
   3. Click Next.
7. On the Ready to install page, make sure the installation settings are correct, and click Install to start the HTML5 Builder installation.
8. On the last page:
   1. Optionally unckeck Launch HTML5 Builder if you do not want to run it right after the installation.
9. Click Finish to close the wizard.

Steema’s Teechart HTML5

Steema’s Teechart HTML5 is a package of third-party components developed by Steema Software, based in their TeeChart for JavaScript library. It provides two components, Chart, for web applications, and MChart, for mobile applications.

If you marked the option Automatically installs Steema’s Teechart HTML5, once HTML5 Builder’s installation finishes the Steema’s Teechart HTML5 installer will start. Else, you can start it manually: you will find the installer along with the HTML5 Builder installer, at 3rdPartyComponents\TeeChart_HTML5Builder_Install.exe.

Once the installer starts, follow these steps:

1. On the first page, mark I Agree to License Terms and click Install.
2. Once the installation finishes, click Close.

Registration

If you purchased a standalone version of HTML5 Builder, the first time you use it Embarcadero Product Registration wizard will pop up. If you purchased Embarcadero RAD Studio, registration information has already been placed on your system during RAD Studio installation.

Serial Number

You will need the Serial Number of your copy of HTML5 Builder in order to register it.

• If you purchased the product via Electronic Software Delivery, the serial number will be on your order confirmation screen, or in your order confirmation email.
• If you downloaded a trial version from Embarcadero web site, you were sent your serial number by email. You can go back to downloads.embarcadero.com/free/radphp to get your serial number sent again.

Online Registration

Use this method if you have access to the internet from the computer where HTML5 Builder is installed.

1. Enter your serial number for HTML5 Builder.
2. Enter your EDN login information.
3. Click Register.

Web Registration

Use this method if the computer where HTML5 Builder is installed does not have access to the internet. You will still need access to the internet, but you can do it from anywere.

1. Take note of the Registration Code in your registration wizard.
2. On a device with access to the internet, go to reg.embarcadero.com.
3. Enter your Serial Number and Registration Code, and click Next.
4. At the bottom of the screen, choose to email yourself an activation file.
5. Follow the instructions in the email to complete the process.

InterBase XE3 Developer Edition

InterBase XE3 Developer Edition provides all developers the best cross-platform database to build and test database applications for embedded and SME segments. Developers are free to choose the standard connectivity they want, and make use of a mature SQL92 compliant database for their applications. Database Performance monitoring allows the developer to streamline applications for optimal deployment.
