Talk:Creating a FireMonkey Component (Delphi)

From RAD Studio
Jump to: navigation, search

Section "Convert to Styles" is not understandable: "You can manually recreate the layout as a style with the Style Designer" How? Where do I find this "Style Designer"? Why do I have to "recreate" everything and how? Why should I have use TRectangle instead of TPanel?

Very Incomplete Tutorial!

As the previous person said, the description "Edit in Style Designer" is without any context and this tutorial has the typical failing of telling you do this, do that, do the next thing without fully explaining WHY we are doing them. Not terribly helpful in the end.

Response

FireMonkey documentation at the initial release is definitely not complete yet, and we are working on it. I have added your questions and suggestions to our work tracking tool.

Meanwhile, here is some existing help about the FireMonkey Style Designer: http://docwiki.embarcadero.com/RADStudio/en/FireMonkey_Application_Design#Customizing_with_Styles

We value your input -- many thanks!

When can we expect this tutorial for c++

It seems that us c++ builder customers are getting seriously left in the dark here with both the help files and the examples. This really needs to be rectified.

Learn Delphi the embarcadero way.. Buy c++ builder ;-)

Response

Here it is: Creating a FireMonkey Component (C++)

Many thanks for your contribution to the docwiki -

Broken redirect to this page

The page: http://docwiki.embarcadero.com/RADStudio/XE9/en/Creating_a_FireMonkey_Component was deleted in favour of this page, and the log includes a comment about redirecting. However, it doesn't redirect and just leaves the user seeing a page-deleted notice. There is a link to this page in the log, so it's findable, but IMO it would be better to either redirect to this page, or show two links to the Delphi and C++ Builder versions.

Response

The deleted page is an earlier version of this page. See: http://docwiki.embarcadero.com/RADStudio/XE2/en/Creating_a_FireMonkey_Component

The addition of the C++ page back in 2012 enabled us to present separate Delphi and C++ versions of this tutorial:

The original (pre-2012) page was just Delphi, but the title did not include "(Delphi)".
