The BeaconFence Map Editor allows you to create a project where you can design, load, and edit several maps of interest. For each map you can define and modify the layout of physical spaces and the placement of a set of:
- Beacons
- Zones
- Paths with nodes
The BeaconFence Map Editor also provides you with the abilities to:
- Fence areas within the map space.
- Name beacons, zones, and paths.
- Connect/disconnect paths between maps.
Toolbar Menu
The following table presents the funtionalities available in the toolbar buttons of the Map Editor.
Button | Description |
---|---|
Create a new map. Creates a new blank map that is added in a new tab. It may be useful if you intend to differentiate rooms or levels within a general environment. | |
Connect paths. Launches the path editor in order to connect/disconect paths between maps. You can proceed in the following manner:

Select object. Double-click an object of the map you want to select. The right side menu shows a list of properties that you can set for the selected object. | |
Create region. Creates a region for monitoring purposes. | |
Create path. Places nodes on the map. You can proceed in two manners:

Create beacon. Places beacon devices on the map. | |
Set distance between beacons. Prompts you to set the distance between becons. Click the first beacon, drag to the second beacon and click again. Its aim is to get a more accurate measure for computing reliable values of distance, position and paths. | |
Set map distance between two points. Click and drag between two points with known distance in order to set the scale of the map. | |
Zoom to selection. Zooms and centers the map on the object that is currently selected. You can also zoom in/out using the mouse wheel. |
Property Editor
The right side menu of the Map Editor displays a Propert Editor where you can set the following option properties for each object in the map:
