Downloading Applications to Users
Go Up to Application Management
If you want certain applications to be automatically downloaded to the local repository of a user, you can select the Push all applications to the specified Users and Groups option on the Create Folder or Edit Folder dialogs. Then when the user starts AppWave Browser, the applications in this folder will be automatically downloaded to their repository.
You might want the applications to be downloaded to the user for the following reasons:
- To run the application on a machine that does not have access to AppWave. In this case, you can download the installer on a machine that has access to AppWave, copy the installer to the machine with no AppWave access, and then run it on the other machine. You may need a license key to run the application.
- To install the application at another time. In this case you can download the installer and then run it later. For large applications, the installation will be much faster if the installer is first copied locally.
- Your environment includes a backup AppWave license server and the user wants to be able to run your applications when AppWave is unavailable but can access the backup license server.
- To enable the user to use a workstation or network named application license when not connected to AppWave, i.e offline license usage. For more information, see Configuring Licenses for Offline Usage and Assigning Network Named Licenses to Users .
