Using Diagram Elements

The table below describes the different functions available when working with the diagram elements in ER/Studio BA.
Diagram Element Function | Description |
---|---|
Explains how to create and place elements in the diagram from both the Model View and the palette. | |
Explains how to label elements placed in a diagram. You can also edit those labels. | |
Explains how to cut, copy, paste, select all diagram elements, select all similar diagram elements, delete elements, and change the diagram element size. | |
You can format an individual element or a group of elements using the Formatting toolbar. |
Right-click an element in the Model View tree to gain access to the following functions:

You can create new elements from a lane node in a Business Process diagram, and from a Subject Area or Business Entity in a Conceptual Model diagram. | ||
You can rename elements two different ways. | ||
There are several different ways to delete elements. | ||
This command is only available for a Subject Area element in a Conceptual Model. You can map a Subject Area to one or more Conceptual Model diagrams. | ||
Diagram Mapping |
This command is available if you have mapped a Subject Area to a Conceptual Model. Click this command and a pull-right displays the name of the diagram the Subject Area is mapped to. | |
This is a table-like editor which is an alternative to the Model View. Content in the Grid Editor can be printed or exported as a report. | ||
This command opens the Create Link wizard which allows you to create links between elements. | ||
This command opens the Create Usage wizard which allows you to create usage connections between elements. | ||
Impact Analysis |
You have two commands available from the pull-right menu: You can generate an Impact Analysis Diagram which graphically displays all the associated relationships and elements. You can also show the Impact Analysis Report. | |
Refresh |
Updates the currently displayed information with new data or changes. | |
Properties |
Opens the Property View for the selected element. |
