AppWave offers you the option to set up additional streaming servers to balance the streaming load with the main server.

When you set up an additional streaming server, it automatically registers with the host and appears in the list of streaming services.

Create a Standalone Streaming Server

To add an additional streaming server:

  1. Create a Repository directory on a network accessible drive, not on a drive local to the master AppWave server. The directory must have read privileges for all AppWave users and read/write privileges for the AppWave administrator. Share the directory and take note of its UNC path.
  2. On the AppWave master server, open the System Properties > App Repository page and enter the name of the shared AppWave Repository.
  3. Click Save. You can copy/move the contents from/of the previous repository to the new repository using the usual Windows copy/paste or move functionality. If you have not already download apps to your AppWave, or if the shared repository already contains your apps, click Save.
  1. Note: The Streaming cache should be local to the master AppWave host. You do not have to change its location.
  1. Install AppWave on the system you want to act as a standalone streaming server.
  2. On the System Properties > Streaming tab of the streaming server, click Switch to standalone streaming server mode.
  3. Enter the specifics of the master AppWave host and then click Save.
  4. From Windows, stop and start the AppWave service.
    1. Select Start > Programs > Embarcadero AppWave X.X > Configure AppWave Service and then click Stop followed by Start.
  5. AppWave is now running in standalone streaming server mode.
  6. When you restart the streaming server, it will be visible to the master AppWave server and can be controlled from the master server. The streaming server will have a limited dashboard that will only present the option to reconvert it to a fully-functional AppWave.
