Go Up to Control License Usage

Concurrent licenses are a pool of licenses that can be shared by users on a first-come, first-serve basis. A concurrent license can be borrowed from the license pool and when the user quits the application, the license is returned to the shared pool and made available for another user to use.

Assigning Concurrent Licenses to Users

This procedure helps you define which users can or cannot use the concurrent licenses.

  1. From the MANAGE LICENSES menu, select License Assignments.
  2. In the Concurrent area, click Permissions and then on the Concurrent Users pane, click Add Entry.
  3. In the Machine Name field, enter the name of the system running AppWave Browser to which you want to assign a license.
  4. To authorize users or groups to use specific licenses, in the Permissions area, click Allow Allow.png which is the option that comes by default.
  5. To enable the user to use the license while not connected to the AppWave network, from the Offline usage list, select the maximum number of days and hours the user can use the license offline. When this time expires, the user will not be able to use the application until reconnected to the network from the AppWave Browser and the application is checked out again. In some applications, such as ER/Studio Data Architect, there is an option in the user interface to check out a license, Help > Checkout License / Checkin License.
Note: The maximum checkout period for an application is 30 days and 23 hours.
  6. To select all licenses the users and groups can or cannot use, leave the licenses selected set to ANY ANY license.png, which is the default setting.
    1. To select specific licenses the users and groups can or cannot use, in the Licenses area click the Add Licenses icon Add license.png.
    2. In the licenses pane, select the licenses to apply and then click Select. Since here we are assigning users to concurrent licenses, this Licenses window shows only the concurrent licenses.
Tip: You can search for the license by entering the search text in the Search by area and then clicking Filter.
  7. To select all users and groups who can or cannot use the specified licenses, leave the users and groups selected set to ANY Any.png, which is the default setting.
    1. To select specific users and groups who can or cannot use the specified licenses, in the Users and Groups area, click the Add Users & Groups icon Add Users & Groups.png.
    2. From the list of users and groups that appears, select the users and groups, and then click Select.
Tip: You can search for the user or group by entering the search text in the Search by area and then clicking Filter.
  8. Click Save.

Restricting Embarcadero Concurrent License Usage by IP Address

By default a user at any IP addresses can connect to AppWave providing they have a valid user name and password. On the Valid IP’s page you can restrict AppWave user access to Embarcadero concurrent licenses to only certain IP addresses or to ranges of IP Addresses.

To restrict the use of concurrent licenses to valid IP addresses:

  1. From the MANAGE LICENSES menu, select License Assignments.
  2. In the Concurrent area of the License Assignments pane, click Valid IP’s.
  3. In the Please input new IP to add: field, enter the IP address you want to add and then click the add icon next to the field More.png. The acceptable formats for the IP address are listed on the screen.
  4. After clicking the add icon, the added IP address displays in the list of IP addresses.
  5. Click the check box next to the IP addresses you want to allow. All AppWave Browser users at this IP address range will be able to launch Apps. AppWave Browser users at other IP addresses range will be able to access AppWave but will not be able to launch Apps.
Tips: You can search for the IP address by entering the search text in the Search IP area and then clicking Search.

To select all the IP addresses in the list, click the All button All.png. To deselect all the IP addresses in the list, click the None button None.png.

To delete IP addresses from the list, first select them and then click Delete Selected IPs.
