The following shortcut menus are available:

Workspace Node

The table below describes the functions available when you right-click the Workspace Node in the Model View tree:

Shortcut Menu Item Icon Description

New

You can create a new workspace, project, or model from this pull-right menu.

Open Workspace...

Select an existing workspace to open.   Note: You can only have one workspace open at a time.

Close

Closes the current workspace. A Save Resource dialog opens asking if you want to save the changes.

Save Workspace

Saves the current workspace. Note that an asterisk appears on the Model View tab each time you make any changes to the workspace and/or its associated projects, models, and diagrams. Once you save the workspace the asterisk is removed. VIEW ASTERISK MODEL VIEW.PNG

Rename

Opens the Rename Workspace dialog where you can enter a new name for the selected workspace. You can also press F2.

Delete

Select Delete and the Confirm Workspace Delete dialog opens asking you to confirm your decision.

Import - From ER/Studio Data Architect

Create New Conceptual Objects: Select this command to open a wizard where you can select data files to import from ER/Studio Data Architect. Update Existing Conceptual Objects: You can use this option to update an existing data source. All existing objects that match an object you have selected will be updated.

Import - Microsoft Visio Model

Opens a wizard that walks you through the importing of a Microsoft Visio model into ER/Studio BA.

Export...

ICON EXPORT.PNG

You can export your workspaces in a compressed format which can then be imported into another ER/Studio BA application on another computer.

Repository

When logged in to ER/Studio Repository, you can check in and check out Repository workspaces.

Insert Project/Model

If you have deleted a project or model but did not delete the associated files, you can select this command to “restore” the deleted project or model.

Refresh

Updates the currently displayed information with new data or changes.

Properties

ICON PROPERTIES.PNG

Opens the Property View dialog for the selected workspace.

Project Node

The table below describes the functions available when you right-click the Project Node in the Model View tree:

New

You can create a new project or new model from this pull-right menu.

Close

Closes the open project.

Save Project

Saves the current project.

Rename

Opens the Rename Project dialog where you can rename the project and its owning folder.

Delete

Select Delete and the Confirm Project Delete dialog opens asking you to confirm your decision. You have three options in this dialog: No, I do not want to delete the project. Yes, and also delete the associated files. Yes, but do not delete the associated files.

Links

If you are creating a new link, click Links>New and the Create Link wizard opens. If you are editing an existing link, click Links > Edit. If there are multiple links, the pull-right menu displays a list of the existing links. Click the name on the pull-right and the Edit Link wizard opens. If there is only one link the command is Links > Edit.

Usage (CRUD)

If you are creating a new usage, click Usage > New and the Usages wizard opens. If you want to edit or view an existing usage, click Usage (CRUD)>Edit or View. The Usage (CRUD) tab opens in the Property View for the selected element.

Impact Analysis

You have two commands available from the pull-right menu: You can generate an Impact Analysis Diagram which graphically displays all the associated relationships and elements. You can also show the Impact Analysis Report.

Import - From ER/Studio Data Architect

Create New Conceptual Objects: Select this command to open a wizard where you can select data files to import from ER/Studio Data Architect.   Update Existing Conceptual Objects: You can use this option to update an existing data source. All existing objects that match an object you have selected will be updated.

New

Open/Close

Model Node - Conceptual Modeling

New

You can create a new diagram, model, Business Entity or Subject Area from this pull-right menu.

Open/Close

Diagram Node - Business Process Modeling

The table below describes the functions available when you right-click a Business Process Modeling Diagram Node in the Model View tree:

Open/Close

If the diagram is closed, click this command to open the diagram in the Diagram View.

Save Diagram

This command is available if any changes have been made to the open diagram.

Rename

Opens the Rename Diagram dialog.

Delete

Delete the diagram from the Model View tree. A Delete Element dialog opens asking you to confirm the delete action.

Grid Editor...

The Grid Editor is a spreadsheet-like display format that is an alternative to the Model View tree view. This view displays the properties of the selected node. For example the Grid Editor for a lane would displays all the elements in the lane, the element’s names, and their descriptions. This is valuable for large objects or business-related objects, such as business rules. Grid Editors can be printed or exported as a report.

Export

You can export the opened diagram and save it in the following formats: csv, html, pdf, and rtf.   Note: This command is available only if the diagram is opened in the Diagram View area.

Import Comma Separated Values (CSV)...

You can import large amounts of Reference Objects data in the Comma Separated Value file format into ER/Studio BA.

Export Diagram to ER/Studio Data Architect

You can export objects on a Model to ER/Studio Data Architect where the elements in the business process diagram map to the logical diagram in ER/Studio Data Architect.

Lane Elements on the Model View Tree

The table below describes the functions available when you right-click a lane on the Model View tree:

Shortcut Menu Item Icon Description

New

This command is available only for pools and lanes in the Model View tree. When you select this command a pull-right is available to create a new lane.

Move Lane...

Opens a Move Lane dialog where you can move lanes up or down in the Model View tree.

Rename

Makes the node name editable. If the diagram is open, it also renames the element in the Diagram View. You can also click F2.

Delete

This command opens the Delete Elements dialog asking if you are sure you want to delete the selected elements. Clicking Yes removes the elements from the project and any diagrams (both in the Model View tree and in the Diagram View) on which the elements appear.

Elements on the Model View Tree

The table below describes the functions available when you right-click an element on the Model View tree:

Shortcut Menu Item Icon Description

New

Creates a new element which is placed in the Model View tree. The list of elements available on the pull-right menu depends on the element you right-click on. This command is not available for all elements.

Create Diagram from Selected Elements...

You can create new diagrams from existing model objects.

Rename

Makes the node name editable. If the diagram is open, it also renames the element in the Diagram View. You can also click F2.

Delete

This command opens the Delete Elements dialog asking if you are sure you want to delete the selected elements. Clicking Yes removes the elements from the project and any diagrams (both in the Model View tree and in the Diagram View) on which the elements appear.

Create Mapping/Edit Mapping

If you right-click on a Subject Area you can map to one or more Conceptual Model diagrams or Business Entities.

Diagram Mappings

This command is available once you have mapped a diagram to a Subject Area. When it is selected a pull-right menu opens displaying the mapped diagram(s).

Search Results View

The table below describe the functions available when you right-click a row or cell in the Search Results view.

Shortcut Menu Item Description

Name, Type, Description, Notes

By default, all columns are displayed. These are toggle settings, so you can select or deselect which columns you want displayed.

Open Search Dialog

Opens the Search dialog so you can specify a new search or modify your existing search.

Find In

Opens a pull-right menu with the following commands: Active Diagram: This command finds and highlights the selected search item in the active diagram. All Diagrams: This command searches for the selected search item on all diagrams in the model. The Diagram Usage dialog opens displaying all the diagrams where the element appears. Model View: Finds the selected search item in the Model View tree.

Run Previous Search

The pull-right menu displays the previous searches. Up to ten searches are listed. You can also select the Clear History option.

Filter Results

Opens the Search Results Filter dialog. Use this to refine the search. You can select which types of objects you don’t want to see in the Results view. You can expand or collapse the tree. You can also select or deselect all the tree node items.

Customize Columns

Opens the Customize Columns dialog where you select the columns you want displayed in the Search Results view.

Properties

Opens the Property View for the selected search item.

Grid Editor

The table below describes the functions available when you right-click a row or cell in the Grid Editor:

Name

Select this command to display the Name column in the Grid Editor.

Data Type

Select this command to display the Data Type column in the Grid Editor.

Type

Select this command to display the Type column in the Grid Editor.

E-Mail Address

Select this command to display the E-Mail Address column in the Grid Editor.

Responsibility

Select this command to display the Responsibility column in the Grid Editor.

Description

Select this command to display the Description column in the Grid Editor.

Notes

Select this command to display the Notes column in the Grid Editor.

Sort Ascending by Name
