Go Up to Control License Usage

In order to use AppWave Studio to master Premium or Custom Apps and for your users to use these Apps you need to do the following:

  1. Purchase and then import the AppWave Edition license. The Edition you require depends on how many users you have. If you have received a .zip license file via email, see Manually Import Embarcadero Licenses. If you want to retrieve your license from the Embarcadero license hosting site, see Retrieve Licenses for Embarcadero Products .
  2. Set up the number of users permitted to use the 3rd Party App, which can be mastered in AppWave Studio under a license for either a concurrent or network named AppWave Edition license. For more information, see Set Up 3rd Party Licenses.
  3. Purchase and then set up the licenses for the 3rd Party Apps. This is only required for applications that require a license. In-house or public domain Apps do not usually require licenses. For more information, see Configuring License Automation.
  4. Add the workstation permissions and reservations for the App. For more information, see Assigning Workstation Permissions for 3rd Party Apps and Reserving Licenses for 3rd Party Apps.

Configuring License Automation

The License Automation option is used to license 3rd Party Apps that require a license or license key to run. To ensure license compliance, AppWave can manage the licenses of 3rd Party Apps mastered in AppWave Studio. If the App requires a license, once you have broadcast the App to AppWave , you need to set up licenses for the App. AppWave can allocate licenses through license automation and can ensure the number of simultaneous users of that app does not exceed the licensing requirements.

To set up a Third Party App license:

  1. From the MANAGE LICENSES menu, click License Automation.
  2. Locate the app you want to configure the license for and then click the Edit entry button on the right Editicon.gif. The Third Party License Activation Information pane appears.
  3. Here we can either change the license information or add activation keys.
  4. To add new activation keys, click Add Activation Value. If there is more than one version of the software, choose it on the next page and then click Select.
  5. The Add Activation Group Value for... pane appears.
    1. To add one new license, in the Total Count field, enter the number of users permitted to use this license simultaneously. In the SerialID field, enter the serial number of the license and then click Save.
    2. To add more than one license, click Bulk Import. Browse to the CSV or ZIP file containing the serial numbers and counts and then click Import. The Import Activation License Value pane describes the required format of the license file.

Setting up Third Party Licenses

Once you have set up licenses for Third Party Apps you have broadcast to AppWave , AppWave can limit the number of simultaneous users of the App.

To limit the number of simultaneous users:

  1. From the MANAGE LICENSES menu, click License Inventory.
  2. At the bottom of the License Inventory pane, click Setup 3rd Party License.
Note: When you first broadcast an App to AppWave , the Usage column displays unlimited.
  3. Locate the App you want to set up the license for and then click the Edit entry button on the right Editicon.gif.
  4. In the Total Count box, enter the total number of licenses you have, which is also the number of permitted simultaneous users, and then click Save.
